The simple task of getting up and down stairs is a problem for people who suffer from arthritis, the effects of strokes and multiple sclerosis, or just from the frailty that accompanies old age. Previously, the only solution available was a stair lift, which is expensive and solves the problem for only one set of stairs.
The BellHop is a portable half step, designed to assist people who have difficulty negotiating stairs due to the height or rise of the stair. It effectively halves the height of the step to reduce the effort required to ascend or descend stairs. Users are able to visit friends, cinemas, theatres and other places of interest.
Inexpensive and portable, light and robust, it has been designed with safety being of paramount importance. The user simply pushes the end of their walking stick or crutch into the locking mechanism of the BellHop. The stick is removed by a simple sideways movement. Both insertion and removal can be done from a standing position. For use in the home, The BellHop can be parked next to the staircase ready for use.
Fits walking sticks and crutches that are 22mm (7/8") in diameter. Ferrules should be approximately 45mm (13/4") diameter at the base. An optional ferrule is available of the correct size. Surface area 185 x 145mm (71/4 x 53/4").
Height 85mm (31/4). Weight 550g
